Research Summary

My thesis focuses on exploring the poorly understood development of early medieval commercial cod fishing in Iceland through the zooarchaeological analysis of the faunal remains from a series of early fishing stations along the western coast. In the future I would like to investigate the effects of being incorporated into the larger world market on the people of western Iceland. My thesis focuses on exploring the poorly understood development of early medieval commercial cod fishing in Iceland through the zooarchaeological analysis of the faunal remains from a series of early fishing stations along the western coast.
