Research Summary

Areas of expertise:Arctic adaptations in the Aleutians, Central European Epigravettian , zooarchaeology, taphonomy. Worked in the Aleutians since 1993. Co-director (with D.G. Corbett and C. Lefèvre) of the Western Aleutians Archaeological and Paleobiological Project 1997-2003. Director of the Central Aleutians Archaeological and Paleobiological Project 2005-2008. Hosted the International Conference for Mammoth Site Studies (1998), the 8th Annual Arctic Conference (2000), and the International Workshop on Eco-cultural Niche Modeling (2003)—all at the University of Kansas. Implemented the Adak Discovery Community, an interactive learning community for scientists, the public and K-12 students (2005-2008). Currently writing an NSF grant proposal with co-PI Virginia Hatfield to conduct research in the Islands of the Four Mountains, Aleutian Islands, Alaska.
