Details about Catherine West and linked projects and collaborations.
I use zooarchaeological and stable isotope data to study the relationship between hunter-gatherers and the environment in the coastal subarctic. I take evolutionary ecology and historical ecology perspectives to address climate and human influences on past landscapes and animal populations, and to address how prehistoric hunter-gatherers adapted to changes in climate and local environmental conditions. I am interested in the applicability of these data to contemporary landscape and resource management issues.
