Details about Andrea Torvinen and linked projects and collaborations.
- Remote Sensing
I am a graduate student at Arizona State University specializing in ceramic provenance techniques in the region of Northwest Mexico. The goal of my dissertation is to evaluate the role of social diversity in the development and resilience of middle-range societies. My research focuses on the site of La Quemada in the Malpaso Valley of Zacatecas, Mexico where sociopolitical complexity developed relatively quickly and was maintained for approximately 500 years before the area became depopulated ca. AD 1000. I am also working as a Research Associate on the Long-Term Vulnerability and Transformation Project.
