Details about Roderick Salisbury and linked projects and collaborations.
Dr. Roderick Salisbury is an archaeologist specializing in Central European prehistory. His research concerns human-environment interactions, the formation of cultural soilscapes and the role of soils in archaeological research and past societies. Current projects focus on the role of environmental change in Neolithic communities, especially with regard to both anthropogenic changes and climate-induced changes in hydrology and soils. These themes are integrated by combining geoarchaeological methods with theoretical concepts from human ecology, practice theory and landscape archaeology. Other ongoing research examines the formation of prehistoric soilscapes and the development of archaeological soil chemistry, including soil phosphate analysis and multi-element geochemistry, for intra-site prospection.
