My current interests touch primarily on the archaeology of subsistence economies, land use, landscape and communities in the Eastern Arctic (primarily Labrador) and the North Atlantic (Iceland). I approach these interests primarily through zooarchaeology and I currently collaborate with colleagues working in the domains of archaeobotany, archaeobotany, archaeoentomology, dendrochronology, geography, ecology, and material culture studies among other fields. My current research projects attempt to look at humans in the landscape in both the short term (seasonal rounds, strategies) and the long term (household life history, communities, landscape history and impacts). I am currently involved in field work projects in Québec (the Archaic site of Boisé St. Félix, St. Augustin de Desmaures), Labrador (notably the Inuit sites of Oakes Bay 1, Koliktalik 6 and Uivak Point 1) and Iceland (the farm of Svalbard and its dependencies, Thistilfjordur).
