My main research interests are connected with archaeological landscapes, and its connecting perspectives from anthropology and geography. My current (PhD) research is focused on the archaeology of movement in two landscape areas in Iceland: Mývatn and Vatnsfjörður. This study is based on a critique of existing approaches to an archaeology of movement and landscape, with a strong fieldwork component, complimented by historical sources and ethnography. The study also takes a practical and theoretical approach to embodied movement and its relationship to other mobile objects by examining the relationships with people, animals and landscapes. The study is examining the 'materialisation' of movement in residual features such as routes and paths, cairns and sheepfolds, but also the interface between intervention and representation in the production of archaeological knowledge about past and present movements and landscapes.
